World of Words is about young Australians writing stories or poems which are entered into a competition for many prizes. Selected writers were asked if they wanted their stories or poems published into a book 'World of Words'. The book is full colour, hard back and with over 50 different stories or poems from young writers across Australia. The book includes dedications and photos of each writer. The Lost Boy
In a dark, cool cave, in a moss smelled forest surrounded by noises of birds chirping, wind in the leaves, twigs breaking and lots of gum trees was a scene of sheer terror. Hidden at the back of the cave was a small figure that was shaking with fear.
“Damn! I shouldn’t have run after that stray dog into the forest!” John thought to himself. “I hope I am found before the holiday this weekend!”
John pulled his tattered clothes around himself to try and keep warm and for the first time he noticed his arms and legs were bleeding from the cuts he received from running wildly through the forest.
John thought “Maybe if I had listened to dad about not encouraging that stray dog I wouldn’t be sitting here in this dark, cool hell hole!” but being the pet lover of the family he couldn’t resist.
All of a sudden a shadow that was as big as an elephant filled the opening of the cave. John scrambled into a tighter ball and was terrified at the sight of the shadow. Echoing through the cave now was John’s name being called John! John! John! Are you in here?” It was dad. John ran to his dad and hugged him. For a while he didn’t want to let go because he was scared of being separated from his dad again.
Finally John said, “I am sorry for not listening to you!” John’s father hugged him and replied, “Let’s just go home and we will talk about it later.” |
