			<title>Year Two/Three Science</title>
			<link>http://childersss.eq.edu.au/wcmss/index.php/latest/year-two/three-science.html</link>
			<description>
In recent weeks, students in Year 3S and 2/3J have been very busy with kitchen science activities. We have followed procedures to investigate melting ice, dancing sultanas, inflating balloons an easy way and how towers of sugar cubes change. Apart from just having fun, there has also been lots of literacy learning happening and we are now writing up our procedures so that other children in the class could try the activities. In addition, we have been observing our bean seeds germinate and measuring their progress. This week we have designed some investigations to find what happens when you change one thing that plants need to grow. We are eagerly awaiting these results to see, for example, if feeding your seeds mango nectar, apple juice, milk or soft drink instead of water changes the way they germinate.

			<title>Camps</title>
			<link>http://childersss.eq.edu.au/wcmss/index.php/latest/comps.html</link>
			<description>
In recent weeks, a number have classes have gone away on their annual camps. Here are some comments from students:

 Grade 6 camp was the most challenging but awesome camp I have ever been to in the whole time I have been at this school!!! On the last day of camp we had to go into teams and build our own rafts out of tractor tyres and ropes. We had to pan for fake gold which was worth 100 points. The whole camp had tons of activities and great food. THE CAMP WAS WICKED!!!!!!!! LW

Yr 6 camp was challenging and fun. Some challenges were difficult and confusing, but the greatest thing about the camp was that you got to have fun. I thought that everyone was working well and as a team. I enjoyed the two obstacles courses. I learnt lots of things at camp. I thought the last day of camp was extraordinary when we had to be in teams. HB

Wow! What a great camp. It has to be the best camp ever, even when we were chilling out in the recreation room we were having fun. The educational parts of the camp were even interesting. SH Yr7

Wow! Camp was fun but exhausting. My favourite two things we did at camp were Sea World and the Planetarium. It was the first time I had ever been to all the places and done all those things in Brisbane. The Science Centre was interesting and all of the activities there were challenging. In the Modern Art Gallery I liked the sculpture of the big lady. Boy, was she big and looked so real. Inside Parliament House it was beautiful and I liked going up and down all the stairs. All of the food we had at camp was yummy. The dinners were the best! Camp was so much fun and I wished it never ended. EK Yr7
