German Students Visit Childers State School Friday 28th May, 2007
Last Friday two students from Germany, Jan and Lars Deutschmann, came and visited our school. We showed them around our school and played basketball with them. They told us about their school in Germany. Their school has more students but our school has more space. In winter it snows in Germany and the kids have to go to school still. They don't have to wear a school uniform. The main sport that they play in Germany is soccer. The boys were very kind and enjoyed playing grid iron with us in sport. Year 7 Students
TERM 1
The Karneval season has hit Childers State School! All of the year 4 to 7 classes are currently looking at the whys, hows and whens related to Germany’s so called fifth season. The children are completing language tasks related to the theme in all skill areas and costumes are being sewn. Each class has chosen a theme and they are busily helping one another cut out pieces for their costume. The students are creating the following costumes: Year 5/6M has been cutting out bats and mouths for their vampire; 6A has found many shades of brown, grey and white to make their koala come to life; 5W has studied a picture of Shrek to make sure their costume looks just right; 7 Red and 7 Green have chosen a princess and butterfly respectively and 5SW has chosen the colours of the German flag to decorate their costume. One lucky student from each class will wear their class’ costume at the costume ball, which is being held on 29th March.
